It’s not a question of reliability, I understand it’s cheap and practical, but I don’t like the feel of the rifle in my hands. Since you mention polymer, I agree that it is in the same category. I have a Glock and a steel frame CZ, and while the Glock is reliable, the feeling of shooting the CZ is much more enjoyable. It just feels much more substantial. Another comparison I would make is between a Glock 44 and a Ruger Mark IV. Much prefer shooting the Ruger, no question, just due to the feeling of holding and shooting the gun.
The 15-22 is very cheap and practical for kids or new shooters, but it feels too plastic-y and light to be something I would probably invest in. I use a CMMG 22LR conversion bolt in my ARs sometimes when I don’t want to burn up 5.56, that works great.
That is beautiful, must be a joy to shoot. During COVID in 2021 I was looking for a CZ 457 but they were sold out everywhere. Looks like a great rifle.
For sure. After I complete this project I think a suppressed 22 bolt gun will be next!
Will an amish community let you in if you aren’t amish? At the least, living near them you can probably assume that they won’t be a threat to you since they probably aren’t going to be starving or losing their mind in a crisis.
I know about the Tikka and Bergara but they are out of my price range. I am seeking something entry level which I can upgrade and learn on. If I spend around $1k or more on those more premium guns I don’t think I’ll bother improving much. Seeking a project gun.
Thanks for the feedback, interesting that you mention the Aero, I have an Aero AR and didn’t even know they made bolt guns. Seems to be out of my price range, but cool to see that. I already have a suppressor compatible with .308 so that’s why I am seeking a threaded barrel.
Looks like the game has been abandoned. Wouldn’t pay $40 for abandonware but that’s just me: https://steamcommunity.com/app/529020/discussions/1/2976275080126602324/
Damn, too bad this game is 6 years old and hasn’t been updated or finished. Looks like it would be a really useful skill to learn through a game.

Great drills. I signed up for WPSN with some friends, it’s totally worth it for all of the pistol and rifle training content alone.
This is a truly inspirational project. Great work and thanks for sharing!
It somewhat depends on which region you are in (humidity is the most important factor) but I would put your guns and ammo into a waterproof storage container with a silica packet like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NBQEYTJ/
Now that’s a wild spot. What an insanely big project that would be. Look at the price history though, it’s gone up 6x this year. At the pre-2020 valuation it might be worth the effort.
Same thing happened in “Greenland” (2020 movie). Similar themes in that and 2012.
Thanks for the feedback, I think milling the slide I have might be the best option since I’m dealing with a 19x which apparently isn’t compatible with gen4 aftermarket slides. As a less important point, having a black slide on the coyote frame would be a bummer, and cerakote costs a lot. What I’m trying to do is find a local place (I’m in the DC area) which can mill the slide so I’m not waiting a long time for shipping and such. I would love to see photos of your pistol with red dot, though.
I know that a light is important on a long gun (AR15) but how important is a pressure plate toggle? I’m deciding whether or not it’s worth it to get one. Second question: what’s your opinion on red dot optics on pistols? I’m considering milling the slide on my Glock to add one, but it comes at considerable expense. It might be worth it for speed and accuracy. Thanks, I just signed up to this forum and it is phenomenally useful.
