They already own most minerals in Africa…… Have now pretty well completed the Belt and Road that gives them access to the whole of the civilized world and are currently heading into South America with a vengeance…… Taiwan is their own sphere but Australia is a bridge too far though! But start prepping by learning Mandarin eh?

If I understand you correctly China is doing the smart thing for their people and anticipating what the west seems blind to. This pandemic has taken a huge toll on all services and industries and very few governments have noticed and…instead chosen bury their head in the sand. It may be prudent for these governments to join their local prepping club rather than relying on others to feed their people…. Should the SHTF……….. no one…and I mean No One will feed your family if you have not taken care of it yourself. Just prep and rely on no one….and you will be fine!

Eric …I think that reflects my opinion……there are too many alternate theories being thrown around. I personally prefer to take my lead from those that are decisive and have verifiable data when taking treatment. Perhaps I should have said CDC ‘science’ which seems to have less to do with science and more to do with how many patents can be obtained at the cost of the population in general. I was actually talking about Florida who when compared to say NY or California are doing better. Perhaps much better when you consider personal freedoms and social costs.

It seems to me that although a very informative piece….and technically dissected and analyzed ……what is important to me (and an assumption is it may be to others) is that many countries throughout the world have been virtually closed for the last (almost) two years….. So many have been bankrupted and driven to despair. Many have died because of lack of ‘something’……….. whether that means attention, surgery, finances etc……… and have in many cases exceeded the damage the actual virus would have done. What is absolute is that another lock-down is not fiscally responsible…the cost and effect of social discourse should not be allowed on the basis of international commerce….equity……or international cooperation. What is known at this time is that its effect will exceed that of the previous variations to a significant degree and we can suppose that our governments will react on the basis of that assumption with further confusion, huge cost, and so very little to show for it. I would offer that previous attempts at containing this contagion have been limited with confusion and contradictory information from scientists…..CDC and WHO and dare I say it…..questionable information! Take one major southern US State that disregarded the scientists who has the lowest infection rate and the maximum possible freedoms…and many would ask HOW? Are they wrong? when the facts say they are not? There is no need to close down the USA……. just close down any country that has any new type of virus until biochemists actually get a fully universal vaccine for Covid. At the very least close them all till we get a handle on it!………….

When I was taught to use a chainsaw I asked the old guy how to stay safe using such an aggressive machine and he said “only cut on a firm footing…make sure the automatic kickback brake works…….keep the holding arm rigid and never use one handed……” So now being the old guy that has used these machines ….many times… am giving the same advice……. no matter what pants you wear!

Jennywren I am not a gardener but have recently been doing research into growing produce because I find it a necessary evil and logical to prep. There is also a guy in here that motivated me through his posts! I have this last month started growing produce from seeds of fruits and vegetables bought from the local store. I use this method because in times of crisis what you have available is what you will have to work from, so…… bought seeds are out for me! The soil I have to work with is really bad…..so I looked at alternate methods and found Hydroponics which although I understood the principle though never investigated …. I see that for preppers (and maybe civilization) could be the only way forward! I was absolutely amazed at the amount of people growing produce in very small apartments using the Kratky method which is extremely simple and is perfect for a lazy gardener like me ………who always has limited time but want to be self sufficient. There are others who have outdoor space no bigger than yours that are growing fruit and vegetables for families much bigger than yours ………………..do it very easily and have been for years. I do not know if my efforts will pay off, but I am really optimistic given that everything I have planted has started to grow…….. with no soil! ………..Onions, potato,strawberries, tomato,  peppers are all looking good…. small and a way to go yet……..but looking good so far! There are companies that produce ready made containers for hydroponics that measure 8ft x 20ft and can feed fresh produce to 100 people on a regular basis with little problem ….very cheaply. I am not suggesting you buy one…. just demonstrating that your area is actually a lot bigger than you would suppose! and a lot easier to keep an eye on than destructive people on your allotment!

I have all I need for protection, security and survival in the short term (say 1 year) but it occurred to me a couple of months back that I could not grow additional food if stores run out. Currently I am trying to grow some of the easy to grow items in the questionable media I have available.. such as tomatoes….lettuce….peppers potato etc …. I am sure it will shock most of you to see I am deficient from this angle…….. but in the last couple of months I have tried to rectify things by starting hydroponics and using the Kratky method. I did not even know it existed! All my food waste I am now making into a compost pile using dead vegetation….. and seeds I am collecting….just in case! I cant believe I have been throwing away useful sources for so many years.

In almost everything we do there is the cause and effect principle at work. It seems to me if you have a guy with a big stick walking up and down one side of your property you may well reinforce that area too. As to the natural gas it would seem that the powers that be have forgotten that in times of crisis adversaries use supplies as a bargaining chip. Very soon the whole of the EU are likely to have a more serious gas shortage….and you might ask….just who was the Einstien that made the decision to get supplied from Russia!

I started making preparation for civil unrest only a couple of years back when I realized that you cannot trust ANY media as being authentic. When I looked around and realized society is polarized on what someone else said and hardly ever on a actual eye witness occurrence, its publicized goals are that of advantage over or detriment to someone else. Where groups require support of their peers as a priority…. rather than fact…… and all claim plausible deniability when it all goes to heck, even when they know that the information they received was at best………. questionable. I evaluate what I see around me in society, and prepare accordingly…..trusting nothing in the system that I have not verified for myself……and in a crisis ……trusting no one that I do not personally know well. The information that I get….. I retain on the basis of usefulness to me and whether the giver has an interest in giving that information. There are many that give good information with no ulterior motive (this site for one) I believe its good to read as many ideas that you can…… prepare your reserves as much as you can, and defenses as much as you can…….. discarding anything that is not personally valuable to you. Maybe……… if we are very lucky……. we just may not have to use the insurance policy we have taken out on our lives by prepping…… but to rely on what social media, or so called experts that have not put theory to the test is not for me! There are no shortcuts!
