No experience. I’ve seen the word a few times, but I didn’t know what it really meant until I googled just now — so thanks for posting the question. Sounds like a good technique to know about.
Here you go. You could of course try it with the velcro belt loop that it comes with, but I found that it would sometimes print that way. For me at least, the clip is far superior, and the tq just disappears this way. I initially thought I would need to stitch the clip in but found that once in place on my belt the tq slips right out and pouch stays put. You have some leeway as to ride height as long as you have enough tq to grab on to. Also note that this is the gen 4 SOFTT-W. Gen 5 would be a little bulkier but still not as bulky as a CAT.
I had never heard of it before, so thanks for making me aware. I did watch the vid just now. I can easily carry a flat-folded softt-w with no impact on concealment, and I’m not a big guy. I use the Mastermind Tactics TQ pouch here (https://www.mastermindtactics.com/shop/tqpouch); I’ve removed the velcro loop and added a single DCC clip. It’s thinner than a mag pouch and rides between holster and mag carrier carrying AIWB. I can take a photo of the setup later if you are interested. As PrepMedic says, this MAY turn out to be an amazing product, but there’s no real data yet. In any case, even though the ETQ is smaller, the size of the flat-folded SOFTT-W is not a problem at all.
The gas operated rotating/locking barrel action is interesting. You can see the patent that explains it here: https://uspto.report/patent/app/20220120524 I personally don’t think I have a real use case for 5.7 that justifies the high price of ammo.
I’ve heard good things about the Taurus but don’t have any direct experience. There is a recently announced TX22 Compact now as well if you feel the full size if larger than what you’d want to carry. I own an M&P 22 Compact. It has been completely reliable and is a good size for a carry gun (though I don’t use it that way). The rear sight elevation screw tends to shoot loose, but a dab of low-strength threadlocker takes care of that. Try to get your hands on as many as you can and see what feels best. For any of the 22 autos, it may be somewhat challenging to find a quality holster as they tend not to be purchased for carry, but then again I haven’t looked so maybe more are being made than I would expect. For defensive use, forget expansion in .22lr and look at penetration. There’s an article here that might be helpful. Also Federal makes a defensive .22 round in their “Punch” line that is too new to be in the comparison, so I would check that out too.https://www.luckygunner.com/lounge/the-best-22lr-and-22-magnum-ammo-for-concealed-carry/ Hope that helps. 🙂
Just depends on your specific needs I guess. Both of your radios are dual band, but it looks like they (Smiley) only have 1 multi-band antenna on their site. It is telescoping so less durable. The antennas I have from them are all single-band. Given your specific use case, the RH77CA (I also have one and like it) or Signal Stick seem like probably a better choice to me (but I am far, far from being any kind of expert).
The Poor Prole’s Almanac. I’ve only listened to the trailer so far, but it sounds like it is worth some time to check it out.
In addition to the good suggestions already given, I’ve had good luck with a couple of antennas from Smiley. Most can be ordered with your choice of connector. https://www.smileyantenna.com/default.asp
Anyone have experience with commercial canned/jarred ghee and long term storage? Some sites suggest it can be stored almost indefinitely, but there does not appear to be consensus.
