Join the conversation in the new forum

Summary: The modern prepper community is awesome, helpful, and knowledgeable. Many of you have been asking for a discussion forum hosted on The Prepared, and now it’s here! Create your account today to claim your public display name, build your profile, and join in the convo.

We’re excited to hang out with and learn from more of you! It’s up to all of us to create the kind of community we all wish existed, so thank you in advance for your contributions.

Some of the first forum conversations we’ve enjoyed:

Even though many of our team have been (and will continue to be) personal members of other forums, FB groups, and so on for a decade or more, some of which have been generally nice (like the r/preppers subreddit), we and many of you felt like there should be a different kind of forum that was more focused on sane prepping without any of the noise, repetition on basic questions, and water-cooler stuff.

This forum post talks more about why we started the forum, how things will work, etc. Highlights:

  • This will be one of the most heavily-moderated survival forums, and with the support of community donations, we’ve been able to hire a full-time moderator right off the bat. More info about policies and the mods here.
  • Forum discussions will help our team put together more long-form guides and reviews more quickly — chip in to help build the best prepping knowledge base around!
  • You can easily embed gear lists and other rich media.
  • You can control which topics you follow, get email notifications for, etc.
  • We think it’s important to understand who is sharing information online, so we’re working on user profiles, merit badges, expert verification, etc. Will share more on that soon.

Our team has been working hard the last few months to build up new parts of the site, namely around user accounts and notifications, profiles, discussions, kits, etc. We still have a lot left to do and things are improving every day — we’ll keep sharing update notes in the forum and sometimes on the blog — and we also love blunt feedback on how we can make things more awesome for you, so don’t be shy!
