Grid down home/bug-out hygiene kit

What do y’all store to prepare for hygiene without running water and electricity? I put together a list that seems like it would cover the basics.

I have most of these items, but they are spread out around the house. Placing them all together in one kit is a good idea that I should do. And making a smaller kit for a bug out is also a good idea that I had not thought of.

I haven’t prepared us a kit, but I do have ‘stuff’ in my go bag, which was planned based on needing to evacuate due to a natural event, and should last a comfortable three days (including food).

Hygiene-wise, I have a roll of TP, foldable 5L kitchen sink, micro fibre towel, liquid soap that can wash everything (Wilderness Wash), hand sanitiser, toiletries (deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc), camp trowel. Some of these are stored in zip-lock bags, like the TP.

I keep forgetting to add garbage bags to most of my kits. You’ve reminded me. Going to do that right now!

How is the Campsuds different and why should I use that over just normal Dawn dish soap?

I have used solar showers, both in the field on projects and at home during power outages for up to ten days at a time and they work very well.  At home, prepare for how you willfasten the bag in your shower stall

Camsuds is multipurpose and biodegradable. I think original dawn may be too.  It can be a body wash, shampoo, dish soap or shave soap.

With the grid down, I could flush the toilets with non-potable water from pool or yet to be setup rain barrels. If water is limited, then I, like Alisa, have most of these items in the home. Your list is good for me to consider for when the house is compromised and folks without an outdoor space have additional challenges here.  In the cars, I have a couple biffy bags  that have saved us at least once as well as a feminine urinal device.   I don’t have many toiletries in my BOB to minimize weight, but have my travel Dopp kit always ready for car evacuations.
