Yeah, I would echo what you said about not staring into the focused dot of light. When I was a kid, I spent a day burning my name into black colored paper with a magnifying glass. I wasn’t able to see the color red for about 2 weeks after. And now I am red/green color blind. Now, I’m not sure if that had to do with the magnifying glass, but it couldn’t have helped.
