I personally think 2nd Skin blister pads are better than Moleskin. They just FEEL better.

If you live on the coast and a Cat 4 or 5 hurricane is heading your way, DO NOT BUG IN. Drive inland, and expect that if you wait until the last minute to do so, you could get stuck in traffic and/or end up driving several hours before reaching a hotel that isn’t booked, if a hotel is your plan. (Most people who live in coastal areas that are hurricane prone know this.)
After a week without power due to a derecho, I bought a hand grinder, and it works works great. No need for electricity.
Campmor.com is another good source for deals on name-brand outdoor gear; they have been my first stop for backpacking/hiking gear for years. REI now has a Used Gear section on their website. In addition to buying second-hand, you can also trade in your old gear when you are ready for an upgrade.
