WHO warns that non-sugar sweeteners increase risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and mortality.
Note: This is not an endorsement of sugar. They’re saying that sugar replacements are just as bad as sugar and we need to cut back on sweeteners in general.

Drug Shortages Near an All-Time High, Leading to Rationing

Some good news regarding the cancer drug shortage. Note that they’re talking about a strategy for fixing it – still unclear how much longer before it’s actually fixed.

For Wed 5/25 — It looks like ability to post new threads is not functioning this morning. Maybe just a browser issue on my end.

Leg strength can protect you from heart failure.
Patients who had a heart attack were half as likely to suffer heart failure later if they had strong legs.

Happy Towel Day, everyone!
A towel is the main “everyday carry” item for travelers in a popular novel, “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.” A towel is a versatile item that allows travelers in this book to be prepared for whatever life throws at them. Towel Day has been celebrated since 2001, in remembrance of the author who died in May of that year.
Always know where your towel is, or whatever other item you carry for everyday preparedness.

“Anybody know why it is no longer possible to start new threads in this forum?”
I’ve raised this issue with TP staff and will let you know if I hear anything.
BTW, your last two posts seem to be missing links to the articles that you’re referencing. Consider editing or adding reply comments with the links.

Thanks, Eric! I’ve attempted to repair the links and, at least on my end, they appear to be working correctly. Please let me know if there is still a problem.

Eric - May 28, 2023
Both of the links work now. Thanks.

Yeah I just noticed this as well, Eric. I wanted to start a new thread because I got an email today about the new TP subscription plans…
I already purchased and am currently using the Austere First Aid. I think it’s great but I haven’t finished.
Does anyone know if existing purchasers will lose access as a result of the new subscription/website launch? If so, can I download the series in advance?

“email today about the new TP subscription plans”
I’m guessing you mean the Memorial Day sale? It’s a great deal for people to buy all three courses at once for 40% off.

“I already purchased and am currently using the Austere First Aid. I think it’s great but I haven’t finished.”
Same here. Great course and this is a good reminder that I should finish going through the lessons.
“Does anyone know if existing purchasers will lose access as a result of the new subscription/website launch?”
This is not an official response, but I wouldn’t worry about that. We purchased lifetime access, and I think TP would at least give us plenty of notice if that needed to change.

I just got official confirmation that anyone with a course subscription will keep their access when we move to the new website.

This article talks about the strong link between diabetes and financial problems. They tend to cause each other, creating a vicious circle.
Many People Living in the ‘Diabetes Belt’ Are Plagued With Medical Debt
Type 2 diabetes affects a huge portion of the US population. 10% of people currently have it and 30% of people will have it by the time they reach the age of 65. I’m thinking of starting a separate topic on type 2 diabetes: prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure. Please reply to this comment if you’re interested in these topics or have tips to share.
