I love these news roundups too. All of you at ThePrepared do awesome work. I have no suggestions, and if you decide to make any changes, I’m sure they’ll be great. I agree with Hardened…I’m terribly disturbed with the ongoing war. Just as the world was coming out of the pandemic, Russia does this. Its almost too much to handle, and we know it will have global repercussions.

Wow, this crossbow looks amazing! I’ve always been interested in trying a crossbow but never got around to it. I practice with a 30lb Samick Sage long bow. I still don’t have the core strength to pull a 50lb bow, maintaining proper form. Looking at the convenient method of cocking this crossbow, it seems manageable. I also like the design, with upper and lower rails for accessories. Thanks for the review.

Thank you.This is a really useful article. I went to Walmart the other day and all the canned beans shelves were empty. It was quite troubling to see. Then it dawned on me that this is probably the effect of the supply chain shortage that the Prepared Blog has been warning us about. I’m going to add spam musubi to my food prep list.

Hi Jake, you don’t need to feel like a conspiracy theorist to have genuine concerns regarding a new vaccine. My parents are retired PCPs and they were also hesitant. They ended up getting the Moderna, when they were eligible, more than a month ago. The article Stephanie shared did a good job explaining that the translation of mRNA into protein takes place in the cytosol, whereas, our DNA is in the nucleus. So there is no interaction between our DNA and the mRNA from the vaccine. Btw, thanks for sharing that article Stephanie. Here is another article from NIH’s PubMed Central. I’m sceduled to get my first dose on May 7th. I specifically chose the Pfizer vaccine because I recently learned about Kati Kariko and the research and design behind the mRNA vaccine, in my advanced biochem course. Interestingly, she encountered several rejections to fund her research for many years, and now it is the most effective in protection agaist COVID19. I see her being nominated for a Nobel prize in the near future.

Hi Stephanie, thank you for another relevant preparedness update. I too understand the necessity for a vaccine passport, though I hope they don’t plan on including too much PHI since that maybe perceived as a HIPPA violation, and may make people hesitant to get one. The vaccine passport should just include name, DOB (for identification purposes) and dates the doses were administered. All additional information like antibody titers, or underlying health conditions, should remain protected. I also agree with you that the CDC statement only spread fear and panic instead of motivating the public to remain vigilant and prepared. The recent spike in cases probably rattled them too. Stay safe 😷
