1st- a good handgun for CCW and all around use. I’m not expert, but used a handgun for almost 30 years for hunting and competition. I went with the G26, with RMR. Very concealable, uses any Glock double stacked 9mm magazine, and I’m very accurate with it.  2nd- another handgun, purely for CCW. I like a pocket pistol for carry most of the times, so a j frame or other snubbie is my preferred. Looking at some of the newer micro 9mms and 380s, like the TX4 or LCP Max. Would have to be really good to drag me away, kicking and screaming, from my j frames. 3rd- 22lr rifle. Either a 10/22 or Henry lever. It’s for varmint control mostly. Preferably takedown versions.  My reasoning for the G26 is that I want a weapon on me that I can conceal when things get bad. I don’t want anyone knowing I’m armed. Don’t want it confiscated or taken. Thugs are cowards, so I don’t see a need for a 25 round mag on a competition sized pistol. But I do want something that is bullet proof, reason I went with Glock. $45 spring kit and the thing is rebuilt after 5000 rounds. There are some other makes and models that are just as reliable, but after shooting Glocks for over 30 years I have a ton of extra parts, magazines, and holsters already. No need to switch to a newer unproven platform.  My reasoning behind the snubbie is that I want a truly pocket pistol. I work on a farm and with dust and gunk from straw and shaving has a way of working their way into small pistols and causing them to jam or not even fire at all. I do not have the same problem with j frames or snubbies. Even my G43 and G42 have problems will it. And yes, I do clean my EDCs daily. They get a look over and wipe down ever evening. The revolvers stay cleaner. As far as caliber, I really like 22mag or 32H&R but both are hard to come by. I do have a SW351c in 22mag and LCRX in 327mag, but happy with my 38 specials in the 642 and 637. I reload for the 38/357 so always have ammo.  My reasoning behind my 22lr rifle is that I’m not into murdering someone at 400 meters. It’s just not self defense, but murder. In the unlikely event that a roaming biker gang finds me here, I feel they still don’t want to be shot even it’s it by a lowly 22lr. Plus in the other 99.999% of the time I can use it for killing rats that are in the barn or hunt with it. The lever can use all types of 22 ammo from very quite 22 short to hyper velocity long rifles.
