It has been a while.I purchased an IMCO lighter in January of this year and afterI filled it up with oil on Feb. 23rd and tried every week after that to see how long I could ignite it.The fact that it recently stopped igniting on May 12 confirms that it can be ignited for about 3 months once it is refilled. We also confirmed that it can ignite even after being stored in the freezer for almost an hour. While it would not be suitable for EDC like MARATAC, it appears to be a sufficient application for use after a disaster has occurred.
Thank you for detail report.Unfortunately, POM spray is not sold either in here.it is mostly Police Magnum, Golden Shield, Mace.however, safety mechanism is different of your photo and it that is sold in here.probably, it is same of recommended spray in the article(Lifting the lid with your thumb and pushing down spray button under the lid). https://www.ksp-web.com/syouhin/f-605.html my interest is whether the contents of the spray are effective. In official website, it advertised “maximum strength allowed by law” . but I can not found MSDS/SDS in official site.(the shop in japan advertised 180,000 SHU).
In my country (Japan), there are no tear gas sprays made by Defense Technology. Mace is barely sold in my country, but Police Magnum OC-17 is more noticeable. It is advertised as being used by the US military and law enforcement agencies, but I can’t find any documentation to support this, nor can I find any MSDS/SDS safety sheets. I don’t trust it, but it is so prominent that I would like to request an expert review. https://www.policemagnum.com
Thanks for the new information. I did some research after that, and it seems that there are two other famous oil lighters, RONSON and IMCO. They are not as good as MARATAC, but they seem to be more sealed than ZIPPO. These are also available in Japan, so I will go check them out. https://tsugepipe.co.jp/products/5/126/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronson_(company)
I checked the structure and review of that lighter.I think it is a good lighter, but I don’t think it is suitable for preparation. It requires regular maintenance due to the large number of parts and complexity.I don’t think it will work properly if left for more than a year. However, I would like to have a third option because peanut lighters are not sold in my country.
does anyone have idea to adjust angle between soft folding solar charger and sun light? “Power output greatly depends on angle to the sun” but if the solar charger is not with kick stand. especially I wally that folding directions are horizontal and vartical.
I appreciate for your reply. I’ll survey reviews of high watt solar charger. and, I would be grateful if you could consider to write article of semi-portable solar charger (as written on “Off-grid power 101”). thank you.
Thank you for very accuracy report. I’m refering this report for choosing solar charger. I agree “Power output greatly depends on angle to the sun” so I think that solar charger with kick stand is efficient, but most these are high watt(over 60W). however I think it is too high for smartphone but if I will use laptop ,may be appropriate. how do you feel it?
