My wife carries around with her a glass water bottle and I had to tell her to start covering it up if she leaves it in the car. She once left it on the floor of the car and the sunlight must have turned it into a magnifying glass because we came back to little burn patches in the carpet. Could have lost our entire car if the conditions were right.

Thanks for mentioning the hand sanitizer as well. I left a small bottle in my car and although it didn’t explode, the container is all expanded and puffed out and I wondered what caused that.

My vehicular water supplies ( not the spare water for the cooling system) is stored in metal insulated bottle flasks  (for immediate use in front of vehicles)  and in insulated cool boxes in the back of the vehicles, approx a gallon in the car, and three gallons in the van. That is the permenant load. Plus if going on long journies or camping I carry another 50 litres in the back of the van in water spec plastic Jerry cans. The water gets rotated about every 4 months on average.
