Are there non-off-road trailers that would make a good alternative to this one?

Great review! I’m planning on getting a Turtleback and I appreciate your thoughts on it.
Any comments on 1) Icon suspension handling, 2) rear tire carrier (is it stable or does it bounce etc).

I’m very happy with the Icon upgrade. Only complaint — which isn’t a valid one because it’s a natural tradeoff of bigger wheel travel etc needed for the positives — is that it doesn’t make for a stable platform when moving about in the RTT. I’m a big guy, and can really shake the whole trailer just by shuffling about up there.

No complaints on the tire carrier, haven’t noticed any bounce.

I have big complaints about the rear Rotopax mount next to the tire carrier, though. I bought the new Rotopax traction boards and it doesn’t fit on the mount. After lots of back and forth, Rotopax still hasn’t figured it out.

Awesome! Great to hear your feedback. Those were two concerns I had.

Have you seen the new(er) trailer steady that TB has? Two beams tha come down at an angle and make contact, keeping the trailer in place. There is a good YouTube video on it too

One more question: with your larger tires you probably have wheel spacers yeah? Any issues or thoughts with those?

Thx for tip on the steady, have not seen it. I’m not 100% sure on the wheels, since I wasn’t there during install, but I don’t believe they added spacers. If I remember correctly, the base design could handle up to 35″s
