Heads up, Russia invades Ukraine
Yup over night Putins forces have crossed into Ukraine in multiple locations, Re-assess your preps and supplies.
Many of us over here (including me) think Putin wont stop with the Ukraine.

Hi Bill,
You probably have better sources than I do but I have not seen any of A or B in media.
On the other hand, Putin is clearly capable of mad actions. He threatened us (the rest of the world) with nuclear attacks if anyone intervene.
And I thought Kim was crazy….

I thought your comments were good, I screenshotted them and sent them to my friend in Bulgaria.

That’s only 83 miles (134km) from the capital Kyiv. Very scary stuff 🙁
I wonder if there is anything useful for them, from a military perspective at Chernobyl.

I read that they have three columns landed at Odessa who are moving toward Kiev. And that hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians are trying to flee the country. All the surrounding countries have increased their border guards, I assume to keep most refugees out. Zelensky has left Kiev and is said to still be in the Ukraine in an undisclosed location. Russia destroyed the Ukrainian Air Force and Navy in less than an hour. Clearly no one is going to help the Ukraine. I think it will have to surrender and Zelensky had better try to get out of the country.

Gone are the days when the noble king would lead his troops into battle. This whole thing wouldn’t have happened if leaders had to be on the front lines with the soldiers having to physically take a life and fighting for their own. Kind of cowardly and more of like playing a game of chess if you ask me.
Sorry… I’ll get off my ranting soap box now.

I saw some photos of P and Z this morning and thought they looked like that. Fighting for their homelands in a very old-fashioned way. A different world, different mindsets than ours.

Zelensky is still in the Uk, very brave, but I think he’d be wise to leave. Boris Johnson has offered him asylum in the UK.

I hope this is wrong, but I read that Russia may cause radioactive clouds to spread all over the region, even all over Europe like in 1986.

I doubt he will mess with the NATO countries. But what a quandary that would pose for NATO countries, obligated to intervene militarily when no one wants to. And what a quandary for the West now. Wanting to punish Putin when the economic measures really won’t hurt him much, but they’ll hurt us a lot. Unfortunate that many countries rely on Russia for oil, natgas, and fertilizer. Italy gets 90% of its natgas from Russia and has pleaded that energy not be included in the sanctions. Germany says it will terminate Nordstrom 2 without having other ideas about how to supply energy for heating to its citizens. And, of course, there’s no telling how high gas prices will get all over the world. I think the Ukr will be forced to surrender soon.

Other pipelines continue to supply Germany with Russian natgas, I just read. If Russia decides to cut those off to punish Germany, that will be a big problem.

Hard to predict anything with certainty, but it’s very likely Putin will install a pro-Russia puppet government in Ukraine and pull the entire country back into the Russian sphere. I don’t see anyone here claiming there will be any imminent grab in the Baltics, and that would trigger far greater conflict.
I’d have my eyes on China right now; is this enough of a diversion for them to move to take back Taiwan?
Interesting times, for sure…however this plays out, it’s going to increase fuel prices here and in Europe and cause further economic chaos.

Yes. His aim is to enlarge and strengthen the Russian Federation to create a more powerful Russian sphere of influence. He had to secure the Ukraine before it became a member of NATO. I don’t know if NATO will ever again to be willing to use military force. But we’re seeing what happens if they aren’t. We’ll have to wait and see what Russia will want next. In the short term, everyone should work on going back to energy independence. The US had it until a year and a half ago, we could have it again. And everyone needs to produce fertilizer domestically.

That would be nice if each country was self sufficient. At least on a small personal level we can strive towards that goal ourselves. How to compost, off-grid power 101.

I hope Zelensky can get out safely. He gave a wonderful speech yesterday, in Russian, about the common heritage of the Ukr and Russia. A noble man who is keeping his cool.

No, he won’t. Can a P100 respirator block lung ingestion of nuclear fallout? I’ve got the iodine pills, I’m just wondering what kind of breathing gear I can use if I am lucky enough to not be incinerated.

Henry Tubbs - February 27, 2022
From my understanding a P100 would. Fallout is just all the material caught in the explosion and vaporized to ash which becomes radioactive. And P100’s will filter 100% of ash.

Thanks. Hopefully, it will not need to be put into practice.
