Book giveaway: “Move” by Parag Khanna

Giving away 3 copies of the new book Move. The author worked directly for General McChrystal at JSOC in Iraq / Afghanistan (who was portrayed by Brad Pitt in the recent Netflix film War Machine.)

The book talks about the movement of people, under the context of the expected upcoming (or already starting?) mass migrations due to climate change, political and economic instability, etc.

Just reply if you’d like us to mail you one (and we’ll reach out to get mailing info). We do expect you to follow through with sharing your thoughts here, but you don’t have to finish the whole book if it’s lame.

I’d like to do more of this, where we coordinate giving away review sample products to great people in this community, so you can get some free stuff in exchange for sharing a review in this forum 🙂

Edit: Copies going out to brekke, NazSMD, and Seasons4. We’ll email you for info.

I’d love to be considered and would be happy to write a review after reading it.

Thanks for doing this – I’d love to be considered for a copy and review. I can provide more background privately but I’ve written and edited for online and print publications (including writing reviews) and also contracted for DoD via DARPA, so this is definitely an interesting topic (and author) on several levels.

Copy received, already well into the first chapter. Thanks for including me—review to follow once I’m done.

First-pass feedback: I think it’s going to be an excellent read, and of course highly relevant to this community; can’t wait to finish it. Minor quibble: print quality is not excellent, and type in many graphics is rendered unreadable by the combination of tiny text and coarse print resolution (example below).

I agree, all the tables so far have been so grainy that I have been forced to use my glasses (they’re not strictly reading glasses – I’m just farsighted).

I received the book last week and will get started on it as soon as possible. Unfortunately, have had a cluster of migraines for the past 11 days, so reading for more than a few minutes is kinda painful. Looking forward to reading the book very soon though as it ties in with both the work I do and questions about future home/work locations we’ve been contemplating as a family.

I finished the book yesterday and will write a reflection / response to it within the coming week.

Hi all—just wanted to say that I’m still chipping away at the book and will have a review posted soon. Thanks for the chance to read this (very interesting material).
